LGBT and Immigrant Leaders Join Congressman Gutierrez to Demand the President to Stop Deportations

Out4Immigration urges all members in the San Francisco Bay Area to come to San Francisco City Hall tomorrow (Wednesday, April 27) at 1 pm for a press conference with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL).

The press conference will take place on the steps of City Hall, where Rep. Gutierrez will be joined by members of the local LGBT community, immigrant rights' leaders and elected officials to demand that President Obama and the government departments with the powers to enact immediate change come forward and stop deportations that are tearing immigrant families apart.

Same-sex binational couples know all too well the gratuitous cruelty we face at the hands of the United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS), who refuse to recognize our relationships - whether they are legal marriages, civil unions or domestic partnerships. Other families face similar issues that can cause a loved one to be deported, or prolonged separations. DREAM Activists and supporters of Rep. Mike Honda's Reuniting Families Act (RFA) will be in attendance, too.

Rep. Gutierrez is on a 21-city tour to call for an end to these deportations and Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

Special thanks to Erik Schnabel, Out4Immigration's community outreach coordinator for arranging our participation in this historic event.

My good friend went. Next time can you give more notice, advertise and have one on the weekend so people who work can attend? Just thoughts, thank you for listening....reading :)

This was part of the Rep. Gutierrez' travels around the country, and he is stopping in different cities--so we had no control over when this happened. But do follow our Facebook page, or look here on this blog. Whenever there is an event coming up, we try to give it as much heads up as possible! Thanks for the comment.
